Helicobacter Pylori is a spiral shaped bacteria residing beneath the layer of mucus in the stomach. You are said to have been infected by this bacteria when you suffer from peptic ulcers. When gastritis due to this infection becomes chronic it can also lead to stomach cancer. However, the statistics says that there is less than 2% of possibility that the people suffering from chronic gastritis will eventually develop carcinoma cells. Still it is always better to stop the infection in its track and that can be done by identifying the
helicobacter pylori symptoms or
h. pylori symptoms.
Some of the most classic helicobacter pylori symptoms are listed as below:
- Abdominal Pain- Pain in stomach is caused when
helicobacter pylori inflames the stomach and the lining of small intestine. The bacteria retard the process of digestion which results in constipation and builds gas inside the intestines causing pain.
- Heartburn- Often the bacteria produce excessive amount of hydrochloric acid inside the stomach. When this acid spills back to oesophagus, you feel the reflux. As a result, one of the most prominent helicobacter pylori symptoms is acidity and heartburn.
- Anemia- Anemia or iron deficiency is very closely related to helicobacter pylori. Infection makes it difficult for you to digest the food. Consequently, food is not broken down properly which causes disruption in absorbing the minerals. This is the reason, iron and vitamin deficiency are also regarded as h. pylori symptoms.
- Bad Breath- More often than not, foul smell of breath is regarded as one of the helicobacter pylori symptoms. This is due to the fact that the h pylori bacteria react with the acid in stomach which creates bad breath causing ammonia.
- Pain in Chest and Shoulder Blades- When helicobacter pylori affects the stomach, chest and shoulder blades are also inflamed because stomach is linked with the fourth to eighth thoracic vertebrae through nerves.
- Nausea and Vomiting- Though nausea is linked with this bacterial infection but the reason is yet to be discovered. The body wants to get rid of the infection by purging out and in order to do so, we vomit.
- Diarrhea- This is another problem often posed by the helicobacter pylori. Once the body is free of these organisms, intestines return to its usual state. But if the infection is chronic, diarrhea can become constant.
Some of the non classic helicobacter pylori symptoms are anxiety, depression, lower level of energy, painful menstruation, PMS, sinus, migraines, sudden weight gain or weight loss etc.
